As part of Origin Energy’s ongoing commitment to reducing Biosecurity Risk throughout their newly constructed assets, E2M was engaged to undertake weed surveys throughout all transmission pipeline disturbance profiles.

E2M sought to liaise with key internal stakeholders throughout Origin Energy to establish requirements and any ‘value add’ information prior to the undertaking field surveys. Following the compilation of client expectations, E2M reverse engineered a custom field data capture system to adequately and accurately capture the required data.  Prior to the field surveys, E2M also designed a custom Geographical Information System (GIS) process to greatly reduce the downstream data processing following data capture. This process ultimately enabled us to be effective for our Client.

Following the field survey, E2M scrutinised the data, employed the newly designed GIS process and created a project wide, sub-meter accurate, transmission pipeline weed data set. The outcome for Origin Energy was a highly accurate and informative weed data set which was issued shortly after returning from the field survey. This ultimately saved time, money and enabled Origin Energy to disseminate accurate weed distribution data to operational staff with seasonal relevance allowing for more practical management of biosecurity risks.
