Remote Sensing Assessment of Hairy-flowered Love Grass
The scope was to map Hairy-flowered Love Grass across an area of 1,400ha.
Covid-19 pandemic shut down the state borders (the imagery provider was in Northern NSW) and there was a desire for limited mobilisation to site.
E2M developed a combined approach that utilised, machine learning, fuzzy-logic, remotely sensed imagery, high-precision GPS and geographical information systems.
E2M developed a novel approach to map the extent of Hairy-flowered Love Grass across the site using both field surveys (to train and develop the machine learning algorithm) and 25cm 6 band aerial imagery (what the model used to map the extent). The report was delivered within the allocated budget and the overall accuracy of the remote sensing model was >70%.
